Hello there Guys, I was just about to place my order for the Thermalright True Black Edition, but after reading around, the OCZ Vendetta 2 looks to be a pretty good cooler too.

I am trying to push my QX9770 Close to 4GHz or Near on Air Cooling.

So the question is, Which one do I go with: Thermalright TRUE Black or OCZ Vendetta 2?

    Your Thoughst?

TRUE I'd say, with a good fan it'll be better than the OCZ... what fan would you use... Also is cost a huge issue?

If price isn't an issue, then TRUE. The OCZ is relatively close. The Xigmatek HDT-S1283 is even closer. But I still would go TRUE.

TRUE is better, if you are really concerned about performance of it, don't forget to buy two high cfm fans

as everyone said above, TRUE is the best with high CFM fans.

remember, NO other heatsink have 6 heatpipes, TRUE, with its 6 heatpipes, can take away the heat faster than any other heatsink. all other heatsink benchmarks are usually done at 3Ghz quad core, but you want 4Ghz, most other heatsinks will not be able to take away the heat fast enough because the lack of heatpipes.

So after reading your guys comments, it looks like EVERYONE is saying to go with Thermalright True! And I do agree that there is a Price difference between the OCZ and Thermalright.

    1) Does anyone has the Thermalright True and have there system OC at 4GHz, if you do can you please share your Temp reading?

    2) If I were to go with Thermalright True, then What fans would you guys recommend? Noise NO PROBLEM. I want to have the best Air-Cooling!

    Your Thoughts!

I don't have that setup, but my friend does.
He has an E8400 and a true black. He's at 4.1ghz and gets 67 degrees celcius

If you do get a True, besure to lap the base as they seem to love making them concave.

Hello there guys, I didn’t wanted to start another thread about my question, so here it is. I am gona go with Thermalright TRUE Black and with two fans to keeps it cool. I know a lot of you guys told me to get the older version and I have that version. But I have a problem with that version. The problem is that when I installed the heatsink with fan, the heatsink wasn’t really tight. I use the clamp and I screwed all the screws, but still the heatsink was moving around on the processor. I didn’t feel safe. So if someone had this problem, please tell me what I am doing wrong.

And also can you guys recommend me good fans for my Thermalright TRUE Black. And Should I go with One or Two Fans? Also noise is no problem with me. As long as my Processor is cooled off really Good!

Also Your Thoughts on Thermalright IFX-14 Heatsink? Who's Better TRUE Black or IFX-14?

    Your Thoughts?

add a few washers to the 4 screws of your older TRUE will hopefully solve the moving-around issue. i didn't have move-around problem, but i still added 2 to each screw, and temperature droped a degree or two.

any high airflow fans will be good. it depends on your price range.

the advantage with TRUE is the sheer amount of heatpipe. but Thermalrigh didn't have 6 heatpipes on the IFX-14, they only have 4. so with high overclocks, TRUE should perform better

there was even a few mods where people lapped both sides of a copper coin and placed it between the HSF and CPU, and that solved the problem. Personally i disliked the idea but it worked
