the copper version have about 2kg of weight........ while the normal one is only 800g.

unless you've got something else holding the thing up, i'd worry about the weight of the thing in a tower PC.

According to various tests I've seen, the difference between the copper and normal versions are minimal also.

That weight however... is a concern for me.

I agree with Pookeyhead, there is almost certainly no difference. After all, heatpipes are something like sixty times more efficient than pure copper.

If you have a tower then don't get the copper, its going to put a strain on the motherboard and moving it around is not a good idea, plus it's has the worst cooling to $ ratio of any cooler by a very long margin.

    but ya it is expensive
its either this or a zalman reserator not sure if i wanna go risk watercooling

The original TRUE is nickel plated copper. Heatsink copper is plated to prevent oxidization. To see a performance boost but not break the bank... get an original TRUE and lap the base to reveal the copper for better heat transfer.

Alas, copper tarnishes over time too so full copper TRUE would lose its shine :(

    Thanks :D

The True Copper is heavy, but I move my PC around quite a bit and I've had no problems. I've even loaded it up in the car a few times for a little traveling with no problems. Just don't drop your PC.

And Copper dissipates heat better than Aluminum, so while the True and True Black are quite simular, they are still a step behind the Copper. As for the price, I can't argue with that. It is expensive and it offers the worst price to performance ratio. But if you want the best air cooler you have to pay for it :D

I must start by saying Slaymate, I'm not disagreeing with what you've said but just adding to it. Copper does transfers heat faster than aluminum but to those that don't know, aluminum still dissipates the heat faster to the surrounding air. I'd have say the excellent Thermalright's design obviously adds to its performance as your results (and others in general) have shown.:thumb:

Aluminum dissipates what heat it picks up faster. But copper absorbs more of the heat faster, so while it may dissipate that heat slightly slower it's still dissipating more heat faster.

But with what were dealing with the difference is only a few degrees at best. It all comes down to how hard your hunting the mighty Megahertz.
