So how is the Thermaltake SMART FAN for noise levels? Right now im running an Evercool low noise fan on my alpha, and now that the weather is heating up now, my idle temps have risen to 40 degrees! (XP 1800)

    thanks

The one on mt TT volcano 7 is loudish to be annoying but it isnt at screamer delta level. it is definately much much louder than the evercools cos i have two on my case.

the smart fans could just be annoying as when it gets slower the chip will heat up so the fan will speed up. When this happens the chip will cool down and the fan will slow down. An evil circle.

More performance = more loudness... its ur choice :)
haha, my computer sounds like an airplane ready to take off, but the temps are pretty nice!

In practice it will reach a balance, they aren't that sensitive to small temperature changes, the sensor is measuring air temp not the core.

What's handy is that the fan will run slightly faster on hot days.

The ThermalTake looks one of the better Smartfans, a decent flow unlike the CoolerMaster DAF-B81.

why dont you run a normal 80mm fan on 7.5V using the 7V trick??

that would be a better idea. Even better would be to set up a full power and 7v switch so you can go to full power when you play games.

well ive got a baybus fan controller but i want the speed to vary from 5 to 12 volts...not just 3 settings...besides its so hot now (waether) then even idling ciases the temp to go up loads!

yeah i noticed my case temps soared today. You could always put it on a rheostat.

i really like my smartfan on my alpha.. doesn't cycle much at all, its quieter than my stock 60mm zalman "quiet" heatsink on my other pc.
