I am trying to get use from the temperature header on the motherboard. The sensor chip is a winbond W83627THF-A and the datasheet here indicated the thermistor needed is a 10K @25C with a B value of 3435k. The only problem with this is that i cannot obtain siad thermistor. This is the best i could find. I found this site that shows how to use a thermistor with different B values. However this method requires the knowlege of the resistance of the thermistor at 50C which the datasheet doesnt state. It is my understanding that the B vlaue can be used to work out resistances at various temperatures. If this is so can anyone help? The B value of the Thermistor i can get is 4100k (from datasheet on page) thanks
The formula is here along with a couple of links; with a spreadsheet it's easy enough to plot a graph showing what error you can expect with the different Beta. At temperatures around 25C it won't be much. Rapid Electronics do a couple of exact match thermistors, including the thin film type common under some cpu sockets, but they're here in the UK.
