Dex 2 is a pile of crapiola. The graphics are the worst thing i have ever ever seen. Graphical errors EVERYWHERE. Gameplay was perhaps a patch up on thomas the tank engine on the spectrum, but that's about it.

My opinion on Deus Ex2 [Xbox] and Thief DS [PC]:

Deus Ex 2 aint a patch on the original, but the story is a lot easier to understand and has a more solid feel to it. The combat is okay, but the AI is rubbish and at times (especially when you try stealth) it is extremely hit and miss in the "Will I be spotted or not?" department. Graphics are decent but not exceptional, although the lighting effects are nice and the locations are all well designed and reasonably open to multiple routes. My favourite aspect of DE2 is the freedom you have to solve the puzzles and quests in whatever way you like, and generally in whatever order (bar the key plot points). My least fav bit was the generally simpler, more console friendly approach to character development and experience etc, and the nano abilities are basic to say the least.

Thief DS has deceptively nice graphics, brown, but superbly lit and textured. The levels are really massive and open (The Hammerite temple is a good example) and theres a lot of explorable areas to play around in. The story is pretty bland and uninteresting, although the game does make sure it moves along at a good, pace that atleast gives you some reason to be stealing stuff in the next dark building you are tasked to case. The stealth aspect is way better than DE2 with a much better, more intelligent means of utilising darkness, although the enemy can be just as stupid/super intelligent depending on what you do or where you stand etc. Having said all that, theres something missing from the game that made the other two in the series so damn good. I think that the benefits of having massive spaces to skulk in are countered by the fact you can therefore basically avoid trouble too easily, and therefore it reduces the tension quite a bit.

    Just my two cents.

Thief Deadly Shadows all the way, its what im playing at the moment and its addictive, as mookboy says its kinda easy in some places, but its only easy to complete the mission, but if your just playing to finish it thats fun, but it gets harder when you want to get 100% treasure scores (or even 80% +) as to get it all you have to do a hell of alot of work to get it all without been seen/heard, the graphics are amazing, and storyline/concept is class too, the stealth kills and the sheer size/length of this game is good too..im not sure how far I am through it, but been playing it all the time since thursday, and just destroyed the clock tower.

Go here for some better high res. skins for the game for garrett and his enemies etc..

Yeah it's not that massively hard to finish a mission with the bare essentials, but to really ace it you have to be prepared to pick a few pockets and take some risks evading guards for bonus loot.

I thought Thief DS was a waste of money, yes it looks good and has a reasonable story but that is all. I found the game play repetitive, slow and uninteresting. Missions seemed to drag on and the AI of the characters in game is awful. The game is also full of bugs and quirks that get really annoying. I jumped into a chest because I couldn't target the thing that was in it and then I couldn't get out of the chest because of some dodgy clipping.

    2p.

That was all sorted in the patch wasn't it? The only dodgy Ai stuff I noticed was to do with the guards walking into me in the shadows but failing to attack me and just kept on walking...

Nah the patch actually fixes nothing apart from the glitch of the level settings at the main menu, like easy hard etc so they dont set back to normal each mission.. fixes nothing else :(
Spike I sometimes have that problem of not been able to select things in the chests, but i just jump in and ive never got stuck before? someplaces I get glitchs so its difficult to get out (jumping into trees etc) but always been able to get out...on other hand, the gameplay is so massive its probably hard to fix everything, ive just reached the asylum now, and not gonna play it for a bit, hate games with ghouls/ghost things in it, really puts me off been creepy...

Deus Ex 2 is a complete travesty, and a mass insult to all the loyal gamers that bought Deus Ex one and put the developers and Mr Specter where they are today. Dumbed down, cheap, pathetic, shallow console port.

One strange bug was that I got stuck halfway through a jump enabling me to run around without making any noise and without being seen. I also don't like the way you start to slide off a pipe say, but can't jump back onto it even if you are only a tiny bit lower than it. (hard to explain).

I just got to the cradle (asylum) and I must say the game improved 10 fold, this level is what the game should have been like all the way through. A real will to survive and not be seen. Rather than going around blackjacking everyone you actually had to avoid the foes. The atmosphere created throughout the cradle was enough to give me goose bumps. Just hoping the levels after it are as good.

didnt particularly like either of them.. got bored of both at about 3 hours.. and when then given back to their respective owners who pretty much shared my opinion... sequels.. most of the time just dont live it up to expectations...
