    Fast Way

    Hi,

    I've had success with -->

    http://www.thinstation.org/LiveCD/

But there are tons of different distro's marketed as thin client OSs, most of them come with bootable CD and even VMWare versions now so you can afford to try 10 or 20 different ones and find the one that makes most sense in your specific case.

I tend to use MS RDP protocol for windows thin clients, it's pretty full featured (more than say tightVNC which is another popular choice). If you have very low bandwidth connectivity (say you want this to be a thin client over GPRS connection when out and about), there are other better options.

    Hope it helps

can kind of run it like that but only the latest version of RDP (windows 7) allows for aero to be used thu RDP.
so from the laptop you will only get the basic theme and no graphics acceleration. So no games, etc.

    this is an awsome program
    its free
had it running in five min
installed windows 7 64 and it works perfect

now i just have to work out how to get my lappy to access it
    any ideas?

lap top runs xp but i`d like to do away with it really and have it boot straight to windows 7 if that even possible

    Quick google turns this up.

    http://www.thinstation.org/
Bung it on your hard drive (you can network boot ... but why bother) and set up an RDP connection profile to your Win 7 box, and set it to auto connect (as per above quote).

When it boots it'll bring up the RDP login prompt :thumb:

There's even a LiveCD so you can test the performance of it.
