I know right now the prices for the 7800s are a little cheaper than the competetive X1000 series, but have any of you experts caught wind of a possible price drop, or will the prices remain the same for quite some time?

I want to buy a GTX, but if the prices are expected to go down, then I will wait for that to happen. Any thoughts?

    Thanks in advance :thumb:

well, there will be something coming in above the GTX, but I'm not sure how fast it'll be or what it's name will be. The only thing I know at the moment is that it'll have a 512MB frame buffer.

I know you don't know much but do you think it'll be out before Xmas?

Thinking another ATI killer? Maybe a 7800Ultra. That would certainly be interesting. From what I understand the X1800XT slightly outperforms the 7800GTX. I'm curious to see what nVidia can come up with.

TBH honest I don't really think ATI Give a F**K about this, they have their Nest Egg Card inside the New Xbox and although they won't admit it I still think getting that right was the reason behind the R520 delays. I do however think this R580 could be a little special and it's certainly the card I'm holding out for. I'm tempted to grab an Nvidia Card (AWAITS GOOD GTX DEAL!!) but the size of things used to always put me off. Used to have a Leadtek TI4600 and the Heatsink on that thing was gigantic as was the length of the card - from there went to a 9700 Pro which seemed about half the size and twice as powerful!!!! Anyway the new ATI cards look just as big.

I'm liking the look of the 7800's just in terms of power consumption and size! After the 6000 series I was expecting something pretty crazy but I'm impressed (and very glad) things have gotten a bit smaller and are eating less power. I would have guessed that the 7800's will come down in price too, especially when crossfire mobo's hit the market properly. Also, I'm eagerly in wait of more of the 7000 series, a 7600 prehaps?
