Well, I can pull a good 554/965 on it, but thermal throttling kills my fun all too soon. Should I flash her with a 5950 BIOS and go from there OCing, or should I look for Vmods, or both? I'll get a 3DMk01 and 03 score for you guys...

You tell me, I can do the soldering and I can flash a card's BIOS. Neither is particularly daunting. Hell, I had an Infinity-I know what borked hardware is.

kayin, are you talking about a matrix infinity modchip for the PS2. As long as the card can keep the clock rates then there should be nothing wrong with flashing it/hardwire modification.

i read somewhere that the leadtech bios flash for the 5900 p 5950 or 590ultra works well on most cards.

cant remember what the sppeds for it were. core 500 ram 500?

    good luck anyways

No, a pair of DFI Infinity Ultras.

And I'm still considering it, but i'm also gonna pursue rebuilding my system, a socket 423 board is rather limiting.

what?!? did you not read any of the thread at all??

i suggest you flash first, go from there. it gives the core a voltage bump so you will see a bit more, and the amount it loosens the ram timings can be more than made up by the extra clocks you will be able to get out of it.

if you still arent happy with the clocks you get out of it after a flash, get a better cooler for it if you are on stock cooling at the moment. if you stilla arent happy after that, the voltmods on a 5900 are very easy to do, the solder points are huge compared to motherboard voltmods
