Im reading all your posts on temp issues and i see most are in high 40's low 50's well im running at 68's most of the time it goes to high 50's when just web browsing.

    here is my setup.
    SN45g 200watt PSU
    XP 2500 @ 2400mhz 200fsb 12multi 1.8volt (very stable)
1gig Hyperx dual channel DDR 3200
    120 WD 8mb 7200rpm
    ati 9600xt 128
    Lite-On 1653s DVD burner

i havent done any mods to the case, but i would like to if it will help me get heat down.

FYI: when i turn my comp back down to standard voltage/FSB it is in lower 60s on normal use.

    where are some good tutorials?

Just so you know, If your using MBM, or even the BIOS for these temps, they're never that accurate.
EDIT: I wouldn't worry if you say its stable even overclocked.

    Or, ignore me... ;)

not bad of an overclock for a shuttle :)
though if ur uncomfortable with the temps i'd run it at stock to lower temps abit.
though again if its stable like u said..i wouldnt wurry about it.

have u considered trying a 80mm > 120mm fan adapter at the back of the case to extract air out?
also try cutting out the restrictive grill at the back to improve airflow

    hope this helps

PS. welcome to the forums :dremel: :thumb:

As said, mobo temp probes as notoriously inaccurate.
Even so, if those temps are correct they are a little higher than you would like.
You are running the processor at 2.4GHz on 1.8v in a shuttle without the rear fan guard removed, so this is to be expected.
What setting do you have the fan on, is it set to ultra quiet, might be time to turn it up to the next setting.

But the most important question is your system stable, if it is then no worries, most likely the temp sensor is wrong, if not then more cooling is advisable.

PS I have a mobile barton in a shuttle doing 2400MHz on 1.65v, and it jumps up above 60°c when pushing the system, by knocking it down to 2200MHz and 1.55v it reaches a max of about 55°c and this is with the rear fan guard removed.

at those temps the bottom plate of the ICE cooler would be very hot to touch. Play a game for a few hours and then quikly turn the pc off, take the lid off and place your finger on the base plate of the ICE unit if your finger is almost imidiatly burned the temps would be acurate. (A bit crude I know but it will at least show if the mobo temp's are even close)

another way would be to boot up and imediatly check the temps if there above 10c above ambiant your sensor would almost certianly be off.

No. Like Yoda said, his 2500+ runs into the 60c' sometimes.
I see no problem with it.
Maybe removing the rear fan guard would be a good idea, and maybe adding a fan adaptor, allowing you to use a bigger/quieter/better fan ;)

Taking out the rear grill, 80mm fan and assembly ad replacing it with a quiet 120mm fan via an adaptor will quieten your shutle no end. AS5 is god. Check out the SFFTech forums for loads of shuttle mod stuff.

yep I did the 120mm fan mod and grill removal, people say it's silly till you show them how cool an quite your shuttle is compared to theres... then they tend to shut up ;)
