That's ****ing awful. As much as I don't like Rise Against, at least they had a reason for making a video like this, rather than just to attempt to be controversial. (Or was all the text on that site BS?)

 

I like Rise against and i'd like to think the text on that site was true. Not just another publicity gain.

Are they musicians or activists? I'm not a fan of people who try to be both. Same thing with this god rock, you should be one or the other in my opinion.

It is why i hate Bono so much.

 

I like rise against, and I don't mind that they have strong views on whatever but most of the video is clearly there for "too shocking for TV" value and not because it's relevant to the song or video as a whole or has any artistic merit.

 

Humans are capable of conscious thought, hence are elevated above all other lifeforms on this planet. How many dolphins can post on bit-tech?

Don't get me wrong, I'm against needless cruelty, but we can't live without killing animals, not without a massive cost. I don't get the point you're trying to make, is it that all humans are scum because some are cruel to animals?

Also, peta are against cutting down trees now; would they rather we all just sat down and starved to death in a forest somewhere?

There is no doubting that it is a disturbing video and I am totally against needless cruelty to animals - I am an animal lover, but I am not a vegetarian. However, as many have said here, we (as a species) are meat eaters and meat (broadly speaking) is my favourite food.

I do think theese people are deranged. What can they gain by making such a video - fame, nothing more. I think the message they are trying to get across is lost when they take it to that level of ickyness.

Yes those are awful images, skinning live animals should be punished by the same means, but who is realisticly going to become an activist after watching that? Maybe a few, but i bet a pamphlet or infomercial would have made the same differance, for a lot less money.

This is clearly done more for chock value than getting a message through. Digging out horrific fottage is easy - whatever point you're trying to make. Making something good out of the fottage is harder.

Peta are against everything, and dont seem to be above arson and murder to achieve sanctity for animals (and now trees apparantly). Its terrorism in our homes and any band who has anything to do with them, nomatter what their agenda or who they are shouldnt be praised.

 

Absolutely. Sensationalist propaganda. They might as well be labelled terrorists for what they produce and attempt to achieve. It seems everyone is "below them" and they are right in their own eyes. Noone should want cruelty to anything, but no image or video is ever as one sided as they make it out to be.

 

I'm against pointless cruelty to animals. I'm strongly in favour of cruelty to PETA members, and other such animal rights terrorists.

the song has no relevance to anything in the video, so im going with controversy im afraid. theyre using it to get hype etc etc which is pretty sick imo
