PART 1 TIE FIGHTER USB HUB - INTRO

I have a little time between my next couple of mods, so I am going to do something fun and quick (hopefully). So Introducing my TIE Fighter USB Hub mod. LOL…

Disclaimer: Well first off I need to get something straight for all the Starwars Geeks, I am not attempting to fully recreate a TIE Fighter. If my colors are wrong, If the scale is off, If I add details that don’t exist just forgive me and move on. I want to do this quick because I have need of a USB hub at my work office. Besides I never make anything exactly the way its supposed to be, something about modding that runs in the blood.

What are my goals: I plan on taking a Hasbro Tie Fighter toy that belonged to my son rip out its guts and place two small USB hubs inside. Attach it to a stand. And Paint it up and add some details to make it look good.

Since pictures are worth a thousand words:

    That’s it for now.

    ROFL, thats good parenting.

I know he probably didn't want it or something but I just couldn't resist saying that.

If you mean detailing like your Perforated mod this should definetly be cool in the end.

    thanks.....

LOL, he gave it to me about a year ago, been sitting in my curio cabinet since then. I've been toying with the idea for a few months now.

Since I am still gathering parts for my next mods, I had nothing else to do. :dremel:

    [geek mode="Starwars"]
Darth Vader was not the only one to use the Advanced x1 prototype, though they were manufactured in rather small numbers and avalible to a very limited number of people. The Empire cited the excess cost, but in reality they did not want to pay for any fighter with a hyperdrive and shields. Imperial pilots are expendible, and it isn't worth the extra cash to keep them alive.

In the end, the Empire replaced the TIE Advanced with the TIE Interceptor, which contained the same power and drive systems, but no hyperdrive or shields (which made it much faster, as those components made up most of the extra mass of the x1 prototypes).
    [/geek]

Cool beans! I have a x1 model that I always wanted to turn into an ethernet switch, but never got around to it :wallbash:

Yes Yo-DUH, BUT the Hasbro model is titled "Darth Vader TIE Fighter" and I'm sure we all know Darth's personal TIE would be much cooler :D

in my opinion i would rather have one of those tie interceptors. the pointy wing things make them look 100 times better.

*edit* like this one here: http://www.theforce.net/swtc/Pix/chron/tieint.jpg

Aye, and it has 2 ions, 4 lasers, shields, and a hyperdrive (all depending on the warlord mfging them, of course).

And it does say Darth Vader's TIE fighter, but that's like saying Yo-DUH_87's truck. It is a bog standard Nissan pickup, as Darth's TIE was a bog standard x1 prototype :p

And I bet that the interceptor had firewire 800 ports, much superior to USB2 :p

I'd rather have a TIE/d myself. Computer (or remote) controlled :D
