So i purchased a copy of Leopard today.
I am currently running Tiger on my 17" MBP running OS X 10.4.11

Is there anything i need to be careful about, anything i should know before making the upgrade?
I did run the Bootcamp Beta software, but it has been removed and the partion wiped and reallocated.

Is it a simple straight forward process? no 'getting halfway through the install only to have it crash and brick my system' moments?
none of the 'having to reinstall and re-register all my software' problems?

Nope it is retardedly simple. You'll be amazed. If you just install over the top of your current Tiger installation, it'll copy all your apps, documents, even your preferences, right down to the desktop background. It's a good idea to do an 'Archive and Install' (Google for the instructions because it's not obvious) but not necessary.

Oh, and there's a bit at the end of the install where it says it's got less than a minute to go, where it actually takes about 15 minutes. As long as you don't panic and reset, it'll be fine. Mind you, that's exactly what my girlfriend did, and she was left with a partially functioning leopard install. We rebooted and ran the installer again and everything was hunky dory.

So yeah, nothing to worry about :)
