Hello ladies and gentle men, my old rat 3 looks and performs to shabby to be aloud to sit next to my new filco keyboard. :miffed:

Sooo.. I guess its time for an upgrade

don't get me wrong my rat 3 performed brilliant over the year I had it but id like a little upgrade as it is well and truly worn out.

I have been looking at the Razer Mamba 2012 Edition as well as the Rat 7 although I dont mind other suggestions :cooldude:

Has anyone used the above mice and could tell me what they are like and how they perform ?

    thanks again bit-tech

    Luke :D

Steelseries Ikari or Mionix Naos for the greatness.

The mamba isn't worth the cash and the rat 7 is extremely nice. Although it wasn't to my taste.

You can never go wrong with a Logitech. I've had my Mx518 for ~6-7 years and it still keeps up with the best of them.

Might want to have a look there as well to see what they say.

+1 although when I bought mine I was really into MMO's (read RIFT) so it suited that style of game well. I have since started playing FPS and it really has been good to have all the num keys so close to hand for weapon switching etc...

I know Razer products are not favoured by all, but when I bought mine I was none the wiser - as above though I have not been dissapointed.

How come you don't think its worth the cash? I can pick it up for £100 new if that changes anything? and yeah my rat 3 is nice although It has started to look a little shabby after a year, and it seems the tracking on the rat is a lucky dip - have read a lot of negative reviews about it lately :(

So I hear, Logitech mice seem to be thought of highly on bit-tech, I also read that their G9x is awful small tho?

is the only difference between the two the dpi? also do you personally use this mouse?

Thank you for the link, good we read :thumb:

Yep I use a naos 3200. DPI is the main difference although the software allows more customisation on the 6400. Its a great palm mouse for larger hands.

Oh, its as good as it was the day i bought it - certainly taken some abuse when i rage quit after getting pwned in game :D Seriously though I think its a great mouse with good functions and can (or could) be had at £60.

I'm currently using a CMStorm Sentinel and I like it, came from a Razer Diamondback.
Quite a bit bigger than the razer, but it's nice, has a decent range of dpi, the thumb buttons are well placed (for me certainly) and there aren't too many signs of wear and tear, having owned it around a year.

hmm, I may sound like a noob but ive never really heard much about mionix, is the build quality that much better than a mamba?

sweet, I wonder if the build quality is the same on the rest of their mice? :p

I'll check it out now :)

I haven't used a mamba so can't really comment. Mionix make some great products but only a few.

The best thing about the mouse is the simplicity, no weights or excessive lights just a great feeling, hard wearing mouse

The reason I don't find the mamba to be worth it's astronomical price tag is because it's an astronomically priced mouse. Yes it's nice. Very nice, but it's almost double the price of most if not all the high end mice that are sold on the market.

That and Mionix's Naos/Steelseries' Ikari are just wonderfully ergonomic for my odd gripping style. It's a subjective experience and I highly suggest that you try each on your own. That said, the Mamba is indeed a quality mouse, just one that really isn't worth the money from my impressions as it isn't as comfortable for me as the Ikari-esqe design.

Also, owing to me having an optical mouse; I use my white wooden desk. The feet are amazingly smooth. (Ikari Optical) But I have heard great things about the hard mats from Steelseries.

It's Logitech in General that get high appraisal, Their customer service is the best in the industry, I don't know of any other company that looks after it's customers as well as Logitech.

I'll second it under the proviso that it's only mice. Logitech keyboards are meh at best. But their service is frankly amazing. And if you like the shape of their mice. Even better.

The Mamba, you are essentially paying £70 over a Deathadder for wireless and a stand etc. In essence. I wouldn't bother.

If you want build quality, I would personally say go for Steelseries as I have tried many brands and many mice per brand (Logitech, Microsoft, CM Storm, Steelseries, Zowie) and I can conclusively say that the only mice that really truly impressed me with their build quality in ALL aspects were the Steelseries Ikari and Xai. They were perfect in build quality and not only that, but NONE of the buttons were too stiff, which is a very rare thing.

If you want one of the best FPS mice ever, go for one of the Zowie mice. In professional circles they are the most highly regarded (and with good reason!). The Zowie EC1 is about Deathadder/Mamba sized, the EC2 is smaller, and the AM is smaller still but ambidextrous. Take your pick!
