I think it comes with a cable that has in inline resistor in it.

I know this is a little old, but does anyone know if this cooler can be mounted with the fan in a North/South orientation instead of the East/West that is traditional?

If anybody is like me, and found no instruction for the socket 1156, (even after reading bit-techs 1st page instructions, and not getting a clear picture in mind) then click on the pdf manual from the product page. That should help anyone who is stuck.

    Product page: http://www.titan-cd.com/2009_WEB/eng/index.asp

Am about to build the titan on my gigabyte P55M-UD4 board, so i can try differnent possitions before i apply the thermal paste.

So far i noticed the mounting bracket will fit even if i turn it 90 degrees. But havnt tried with the whole thing yet.

Maybe the product link i just posted might help...?

Mine's sitting quite happily blowing towards the roof fan in my 300, mounted on an MSI 770 C45 :thumb:

    Edit: awesome sig quote btw!

Just tried it, and you can mount it anyway. I also noticed on the product page one of the pictures is showing the fan is facing East, while on the pdf guide it is facing south.

Just be care full the fan doesn't hit the ram, the cooler is very big!

Yeah, you can. On most high end Asus 1366 boards and when using tall memory modules, if the heatsink is mounted "East-West" the fan frame will interfere with the memory, so you can also mount it "North-South" and avoid that problem.

Also note the base that makes contact with the CPU is not square. see bit-techs picture from the review for more of an idea.

I would have to change mine to be east-west if I'd bought my ram more recently, I have nice low-profile heatsinks and the XMS3 on scan atm seems to be pretty pointy. Helpfully my board has the channel groups paired up beside each other rather than separated, never understood why most boards don't do that...

Thanks for the replies with the info guys!

@October, thanks for the compliment on the sig, Twain was one quirky guy, just read some of his quotes. You can find a bunch online. This has to be my favorite by far though.
