    This week i might buy a Titan Fenrir. (Not the christmas edition) But before buying i have a few questions to ask.

    My motherboard is an Intel DP45SG. Here is a pic of it. Will the Fenrir fit it? WIll it hit the Northbridge heatsink, RAM cards etc..

    I currently have the stock Heatsink. My room temp is around 30C and idle temps on the CPU are between 45-50 and load is between 67-72C on Stock Speeds!!!. According to the review of the Fenrir on bit-tech the idle delta T value is 17 and the load delta T value is 38.
    So if i use the fenrir in my room will it be like this
    Idle = room temp + delta T = 30+17 = 47C
    Load= room temp + delta T = 30+38 = 68C
    Will i get these temps? if not what sort of temps will i get on stock speeds?

    Im planning to overclock my Q6600 with the Fenrir. Is this a good cooler to use for overclocking? Approx what speeds would i be able to rech with this cooler on safe temp levels?

    What about temps. The delta T issue and as i have mentioned the other part of the question about temps?

    +1

    The Fenrir is one of the best, if not the best, air coolers out there at the moment. You should be able to overclock to ~3.6GHz no problem. It's hard to say what temps you'll reach but I'd expect 65-75 degrees C for your core temps (that's an actual value, not dT).

    it will fit.

    you will probably find that you shave off 20 degrees off. the figures you quote from bit tech are from an overclocked Xeon with a rather high vcore. essentially you should be getting 20 degrees better cooling at stock speeds, but the temps will be about the same when you OC with the fenrir.

    yes it is a good cooler for OCing. i have no idea about speeds you can get (though they will be about as good as you can get on air).

    Pete J but isnt 65-75 high. Even at present im getting 67-75 on load with the stock HS. So if the fenrir's temps are like that whats the improvemnet i will see with this aftermarket cooler?

    those temps will be when the cpu is overclocked.

    Somewhere I read that it is better to keep the CPU temp below 65 even when overclocked. AM i right?
    And the purpose of using an aftermarket cooler is to reduce the temps mostly when overclocking. But if the temps go as high as 75 C when overclocking doesnt it negate the purpose of an aftermarket cooler?

    ok, you are getting 75 C at STOCK speeds with the stock cooler. with the fenrir you can go to 75 C OVERCLOCKED. you are getting the same temperatures, but with 1Ghz extra. if you dont wanna overclock then you will get 55-60 C.

    (for reference, you would be pushing 100 C with the stock cooler at the same overclock).
