Well hello once again bit-tech, hows the not so new year treating you all Well its that time for me to start a new project ( keeping in mind im still working on pc90 ). But this time i have some support behind me on this project. As you can probly tell from the Name of the mod, my case of choice is a " SilverStone TJ-03 " tower case. I choose this case for now only its size ( width, height, length ) but for its smooth style. Its awsome construction, and the options for interior work its given me with so much room. The hardware ill be running in this system is as you will be able too tell, means serious bizzy... AMD Opteron 165 1 MSI x1900xtx MSI K8N Diamond plus Geil ONE TCCD SilverStone TJ-03 SilverStone ST65ZF 650w Western Digital 150gb raptor Western Digital SE 16mb Now for a few pictures Removable motherbaord tray which is a must for all overclockers and modders alike. JUST LOOK AT ALL THIS ROOM ! Now another awsome factor with this case is that 95% of it is held together solidly with countersunk screws, which made pulling this case apart so simple ! 2 minutes later the top is off, and this case weighs nothing i must also add ( bar the front panel being 3mm solid alloy ) and what we are left after all the unscrewing has taken place someone say rad mounting ? MURDERRRRRRR !
TJ-03 Terrargh Discussion Project TJ-03 Discussion thread. I hope you enjoy reading this asmuch as i do putting it up here XD!
Well time for a few hardware shots, but i asume many of you have seen this gear before but for those that havnt here we go. No flash angles just raw dirty pictures here is a box omfg another box ! AND ANOTHER BOX !1!@!@11!1oneoneone!1 heres one sexy little hdd powering supply unit semi passive cooling and the beast itself Well i thought id run a little 3d05. Im just working on all bios setting atm too get the best performance out of everything. Im pretty happy with the first run, cpu is only @ 2.6 atm. few more screenies got_widescreen *** samsung 215 Well i started moving into my new workshop last night, still a few things to organise but good things take time Im male, theres ment to be a mess XD and my weapon of choice >:[ $700nzd worth of gun, which has awsome balance too it ! But this morning before work i thought i would get a little bit of work done to the side panel. And yes i know i say real men use a jig saw, but for window cuts like this i guess i have to stand down :< and the final parts of the window, which as you can see is for my major sponser for this project. This afternoon ill be heading off to my paint supplier, grabbing some white base, red pearl, and a few other required items. Ill also start on the inner acrylic parts ^_^. And a sneak peak into my HTPC case :>
Hello once again bit-tech readers, time for a little update !~ Well i got the side panel filling work done, all that remains is the cutting and fitting / design of the windows. Now its time to get the panels ready for a little painting. Now ive seen alot of people painting alloy panels etc. and havnt seen the correct prep work. What you have to remember when painting alloy is that paint will not adhere to alloy without a desnt sand with at least p100. I use a little palm sander with p100 and after a good sand we have this result seeing as the case is pre painted i dont have to sand all the paint off as my primer will still key to the surface. DO NOT FORGET TO ETCH the alloy as paint, primer will not stick ! Remembering that prep work is the key to a perfect paint job, i give my pre etch surface a good wax / greesing ~ a little blat with some tac rag to remove 90% of dust and other un wanted crap on the panel.
Now im ready to start the process For those that are not so clued with the painting process, when etching you dont have to soak the panel, all you want it just a nice dust cover over the panel's now my primer has somethign to stick too, as it would just fall off otherwise time for a little primer, a good stir not to thick, and not to thin >:[ The first coat i apply is justa thin dust type coat to get a little bit of build over the panel, but still getting cover. then after a little tac off time i get down to some thicker aplication Well thats it for now folks, dont forget to COMMENT
A little bit of guide coating for when i get to the sanding stage, i shouldnt find to many inperfections in the panels. I then moved onto getting a few other panels primed. To assist me in the prep of the panels i use a little steel brush for getting into all those hard to reach place's once again some more etching and some more primer work ~ inside of the side panels also primed and guide coated Now all i have for the primer work is the front panel, few other internal fiddly parts. Im going to start of the acrylic work today, and maybe start on some acrylic etching and water cooling set up. The water gear ill be using: DangerDen Copper TDX DangerDen CSP-MAG pump x 2 DangerDen Dual 5 " bayres x 2 DangerDen Xseries VGA block ( ill be upgrading to 7900gtx's soon ) DangerDen NV-78 x2 DangerDen Aquadrive Untill nthe next update, have a good day / night readers and dont forget to comment
Always a good idea to blur out the serial numbers on parts.. like the hard drive... Otherwise, looking good so far! luvbug
Looking really good I like the 'Playtech' cuts. I will be cutting letters into my case as well. Having done this before, I know how tedious this work can be. Regards BenJ
Very nice, liking the work desk with no drawers. Prevents you from loosing stuff down the back Looking forward to the end result
thanks for the comments guys. The reason my desk has no draw's, is because ive used them for a mini router table More updates this week, ive got a plan for my water cooling which will involve the listed gear ( when it arrives ) and a cool-it pelter system ~
I wouldn't recommend those pumps, a Laing D5 or DDC with plexi top would be a much better option. Case is looking great
Ive used the csp mag's for a while now, and with no problems what so ever. So ill be staying with them
Well last night i got the case together jsut to give me an overall idea on how it will look. As per normal you all know im one for a little acrylic work on all my cases. The cover will be grounds for a little decal work and add to the white paint ill be applying to the inside looks out of place atm, but when i add soem rounded edges to it and make it shorter and narrower itlll look the part the side panel has turned out awsome ^_^ i started doing a little watercooling planning then it was off for a little wet rubbing on the parts i had finished priming and finish priming the parts that i had left Im thinking of using a cool-it sytem for the cpu and maybe runnign 2 looops for the hdd, and graphics. WHY ? you may ask.... because i can XD~ Tonight i hope to get to my supplier to pick up my white paint i require for the inside iso i can make a start on it. I still have a few little touch up jobs to the outter of the case, which i also hope to get done tonight. And ill also get PC-90 going again aswell !!!
just got a little parcel in the post, ehiem 1048, 5" bay res, nv-78, fans, fillport, tubing and fittings all for a huge sum of $60 NZD. giggle ~ I probly wont use anything out of this, but what a bargin
Wow, what a bargain. Guess you just have to be lucky to pick up good deals like that one. Way to go mate. BenJ
