In the same way that in the 90's many familes decided they had the money and the desire to basicly, have a TV wherever it was desired(so intead of just the living room, the bedrooms too, and maybe the kitchen), in this decade PC's are proliferating, people are just putting a PC wherever they feel like one, the things are cheap within reason, and since some of us like to have the latest and greatest, secondary PC's easily build up, that aren't worth more then a few quid, but can perform perfectly adiquitly for the majority of standard users. Hence, many PC's.
