I am looking at building a second rig using some bits that I have knocking about and some new parts, I have 2 x 8800 Ultras and want to know if there is any point getting a newer Nvidia GT280 or would the 2 x 8800 Ultras in SLI be just as good?

    Thanks in advance

As performance goes, there won't be much of a difference. Keep the 8800's and use the money to get something better than what you intend to get :)

Sell the ultra's whilst you can get some decent money for them, then grab a GTX260, a little overclock will put a GTX260 on par with a GTX280, for alot less money.

Plus all SLI boards suck unless its an Intel X58 motherboard which is compatible.
