got my hands on a CTX panoview 540 10.5" tft VGA monitor. not quite sure what to do with it now (it was an impulse buy for £30) 1) hack it into a side window and use it like a big VFD? 2) build a mini-itx project with it? 3) leave it as is an use a 2nd monitor for ftp 4) any other suggestions
WTF? you cant see it on the side of your case!!!! just bolt it to the front!!! wow another complete (yet fun) waste of time in sketchup. gives me practice.
LOL Wow, I got to admit thats a classic picture. *phew* That kept me laughing for a while, and then it made me cry just of the thought of mounting it on the front. Funny none-the-less! EDIT: On a side note, SketchUp kicks ass! Sketchup? sKetchup? KETCHUP!
How about using the mirror tint to make it a mirror, and when the power is on, you'll see the image behind the tint? Ala macro black? PWNED!!!!!!!!
Mount it to the dash of a car and put a computer in the trunk . Although it would probably be too dim to use in the sunlight. Or put a touch screen kit thing on it and use it as a "remote control" for an HTPC.
put it on a really long lead, do the touch screen thing, and make it into a really good winamp display and controller.
how bout you build a custom case for it (rip your mobo tray\3.5\5.25 out) and start from scratch. that way, you could mount it in a way that you can see it, and it would be a sweet project =)
Went for a look on www.mini-itx.com the SX64 got me thinking, going to a ham show to see if I can find an oscilascope case or horrible old PC-type case for it to live in with a via M1000 board behind it. thought of Mac se30 - too narrow, Pet - too chunky, then one of the guys at work said there clearing out the stores next week as well and they are skipping about 10 old Dell servers - spotted an old Dell 486 tower that had Xenix on it that looks promising and a Sun sparcstation-5 waiting for a dremelling.
That actually looks like a good idea, assuming it works like advertised. Anyone have any idea on how it was made. I don’t feel like buying plans to something I could build myself. From looking at the sample pics, It looks like they just put the screen in front of a big light and put a frensel lens in-front of it. Then they used a lens to focus it.
