i've just take ownership of 4gb kingston hyperx ddr2 8500. YIPPY!!!!

i've installed them but they seem to be running at 800mz instead of 1066mhz. BOO!!!!

i've updated the bios and tried them in different slots, checked the stickers and they should be this.

so do i need to set timing and speed manually or should i return them as faulty?

you will probably have to set the speed manually using the memory strappings, what is your motherboard?

Try setting it up manually in bios it normally defaults a lower speed.

yep your mobo will have no trouble running at its rated speed, you need to set the speed in the bios

My P5K did the same thing.
It's so when people put 1066speed ram into there lower end board and it doesn't work they start complaining.
There should be an X.M.P profile.

Ran CPU-z and the memory tab shows timings and speed to be ok, but the spd tab shows 6400?

The SDP is a small little chip with default settings, which in most cases is PC-6400 so it will run on more machines.

EDIT: My ram shows up at 1066mhz under the SDP even though it's running at 1600mhz
