I wanted to get the opinion on some of y'all. Should I stealth my cd drives? They are painted silver because I had them in my other case. What do you think?

Truth is, I'm a bit bored and think I might just go ahead and stealth them.

While I'm at it, does anyone know if a nibbler will cut the motherboard tray on a LL PC-60? I'm talking about the fan grill in the back. Not sure I want to break out the dremel yet. :D

I'm personally not a fan of stealthed drives. I would rather see them painted (if they match), covered in vinyl (if it goes with the case), or the face plates cut out for the tray/media and the buttons/tray front/etc covered to match. I have seen stealth mods that look nice, they just aren't for me. I would rather see the drives that I shelled out $$$ for.

If I did the stealth, I would have to remove the entire front bezel to be able to get to the tray because of that little flap down door and the curve.

bmph8ter: I'm starting to get to where I'm not sure I like the stealth look, just because it's been done so much! But I do like the nice clean look of a PC-60 with stealthed drives. I dunno. Not as creative as GreatOldOne. :D

You should mod to suit yourself. If you see something you like then do it. Just because stealthed drives have been done before is no reason for you to not do it. I bought my PC-60 for it's looks so I stealthed the drive to keep them, but don't mod it because you feel you have to, do it because you want to.Mod it the way you want it. If you are undecided on what to do then wait until you see or think of something that takes your fancy. If you want to mod it differently then paint the case beige. ;) :D

I decided to go with stealth as well. Just one drive for now. I'll do the burner later. Here's the pics!

    Drive closed:

    Drive open:

I chose to leave most of the original bezel on there. It helped to make it so that the stealth cover doesn't wobble as much.

Now I have to do the burner and decide what to do with that floppy...maybe cut out a 3 1/2 bay cover. :eyebrow:

it makes me laugh when uneducated people look at a case with stealthed cd drives and say "where are the cd drives then?" :D

My wife walked in and looked at the computer and said, " What did you do? I can't listen to cds now?" I say she shouldn't be in there in the first place!! (Well I think it anyway. :D)
