TIL, that a Russian court that has fined Google, appears to have no grasp of financial reality... https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cdxvnwkl5kgo "In dollar terms that means the tech giant has been told to pay $20,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000."
Yep. They're using the "rice grains on a chessboard" calculator, doubling the fine every day since the complaint was filed
TIL that Android phones are aware of Apple Air Tags and warn you if you are close to one for some time or repeatedly. I dropped my daughter into work this morning and collected her tonight, when I got home this 'odd' Google notification popped up on my phone. Her set of keys for work have an Air Tag attached to keep it safe, as they are communal. A map showed that the tag has been in the car with me to town and back It's good to know that anti stalking stuff is in place.
Beware of the keys, they know where you are, they know where you go, they know what you do, soon they will strike...
Ouch. I'll be watching out for the little beggars It does mean that the boss can see if she's at work or not...
Sadly, Android flavoured tags are still in their infancy - Only a couple available as yet, and they don't do UWB for the precision tracking that Apple has. Motorola have promised some that do, but still no sign of them...
This might seem a little implausible but, TIL that “Arachibutyrophobia” is the fear of peanut butter sticking to the roof of your mouth.
Ok so it seems that until the 1972 Maritime Mammal Protection Act the Americans were using whale oil in their automatic gearboxes. It's mind blowing to think that whaling and auto boxes overlapped like that. From what I've gleaned faults and repairs shot up afterwards as the oils they used to replace them were nowhere near as good.
My mind has been blown today. In the manliest film all all time, Commando, I didn't realise that the quad rocket launcher was a real weapon. I assumed it was just a silly prop made up for the film.
