I was about to leave Relix some cheesecake, had second thoughts and scoffed the lot, cos I've got a Jaaaaag.
While I love Top Gear, i must say that thus far (one ep behind you guys), Season 13 was less impressive than Season 12... the V8 blender moment in S12... or the Vietnam challenge... THAT was funny...
its only very early in the season, im sure itll pick up. why bother putting the best stuff at the begining when most people will remember the last few episodes and judge the season on them. i thought the episodes were good tho, any top gear is good
the episode on sunday was only number 5 out of 13. if your a week behind the one you last saw was 4 of 13
nope... there's only 7 episodes in season 13... http://transmission.blogs.topgear.com/2009/07/19/wheres-the-cool-wall/ <--read.
Who was the glamour model that James had for a co-driver? Very cute but looked like she might be high maintenance.
I must that was the least entertaining and possibly worst TG episode I've seen so far. I couldn't even finish it I found it to be such crap. Rather disappointed.
Next week (last episode of the run) - Jay Leno is the SIARPC. So his car history that Jezza goes through before showing the lap will take up most of the show! I thought the last episode was OK - I like the cheap car challenges. And the dino's during the Z4 / 370Z portion was a nice touch (they're from the Walking with Dinosaurs arena show) I do think they may have been saving themselves for the final episode though...
what would be epic and painful is if they did a whole series based on travelling around the world, in cheap local cars. Kinda like Micheal Palin meets a cheap car challenge, if not around the world at least across mainland europe/asia. There would be some classical funny moments i bet.
I thought a couple of the shots were well executed, but the whole segment was a bit bizarre. The challenge was good but there wasn't really enough funny moments (the bidding was hilarious, the rest felt very flat, apart from a nice view of a couple of hills now and again). Brian Johnson's laptime was nothing short of stunning. I kind of got the impression either Clarkson was simply over-awed during the pre-lap interview or just bored/disliked the chap. Not the best of the series.
Thoughts on tonight's show: Are they allowed to suggest pie-keys on TV? All I can say about the adverts is "ROFL". And that I still really want a Scirocco. And a beautiful piece about the Aston. 'Nuff said.
Plz can I haz Vantage V12? Thought the Ad section was going to be boring, but was quite entertaining. TBH, If we could have had more of the Aston & Jay, I'd have been over the moon. Odd way to end though, with the Aston blatting away into the sunset - It really felt like someone had died... If I didn't know that the next series is currently being filmed, I would have sworn it end of TG wake / swan song. Poignant, I believe the word is.
I thought that was a fantastic way to end an ep. Very carefully done imo, a bit like that piece with the CLK Black. Nice to have a piece where no-one is saying stupid crap, no silly camera work, no explosions or power-slides, just a beautiful car on fantastic roads.
