Regards the 5door saloons...
MX6 > ST220 > VXR.

You'd have the dodge over a BMW M6? Thats stupid!
The M6 is simply awesome, though overpriced for what it is.

 

Only one thing I've got to say about the ST, MX6, VXR debate, and that's the one thing you didnt get a clear idea about in the show: NOISE! The Ford Duratec V6 sounds beautiful, especially in the ST200 and ST220. The 200 being the sexier IMO, but it has a lurvely, deep induction roar, accompanied by the usual pulsed, V6 warble in the mid range, turning into a trumpeting, tuned note at teh high revs. It sounds smooth, silky, and unstressed right upto the 7000rpm redline. A wonderous engine, probably why you'll find it in so many cars, not least amongst them the Noble mid engined super-beast. Both Mazda and GM can learn a lot about how to make a V6 engine from Ford. The Mazda unit is especialy coarse, unrefined, and agricultural in comparison. Ford actually used it for a while in the V6 probe... 'nuff said.

 

wow, what a boring episode which must rank as one of the worst ever . mondeo's, vectra's nearly fell asleep during star in a reasonably priced car and just to kill me off staged caravan pranks, whats the target audience, 5 year olds ???

The ST200 is faster then a 220 as well as looking a lot nice imho....afaik they both have the same bhp but the 220 weighs more.

May I just add that the 200 does sound wonderful.

One of the things that annoys me slightly about the 200 is the fact that about the only things it has in common with the mondeo in the haynes is the badge, the blue oval and a few bulbs..

 

Indeed... in fact the ST200 is half Cougar, half Contour SVT. While it looks the same on casual inspection, trying to buy parts is a nightmare, as everything is subtly different.

The ST220 is actually more powerful as standard: 220bhp as opposed to the ST200's 200bhp, but in real life, there's almost nothing to choose between the two.

I have to agree with the others, while the caravan thing was amusing, it was so obviously staged, it ruined it.

 

I might be way off here, but isnt the number after the ST an indication of BHP as in the ST200, has well.. 200 and the ST220, has erm, you guessed it.. 220.. ( well is more like 201 and 223 i think but w/e)

bah beaten to it by above, oh well, ill add that 0-60 and top speed are greater in the st220 than the 200 aswell

 

Surely by the time you've played with the engine management and whacked on an induction kit and such like you can get the ST200 > 220bhp

 

meh i spose, but well, extra 20bhp as standard

and uh, as far as that looks thing goes, arnt they both the same car? just with the 2.5 and 2.9 litre engines changing? so how does the 200 look better? unless youve seen a 200 with different bodykit and assumed it was standard?

i dunno -_- i remember the day my dad almost got an st24 but decided itd look stupid towing the caravan >.< i almost persuaded him to ditch the van but common sense prevailed and we got some 4x4, get gutted.

 

How slow was the star in that car !! Thay should have wogen back on to see how much slower hes got.
when thay drove inside i thought it would get to 150 or somthing, but no grip = no speed, thay should try again with rubber or somthing on the ground .
did anyone notice if JC Ak got saved or did it go up in flames.

 

The 200 is a MK2 Mondeo (shaped like it at least), whereas the 220 is a MK3, so not really anywhere near the same shape, and its a 3l too.

 

I may well be wrong as I've not seen the figures on the 220, I just heard it was slower, checked it out just and I was wrong.

It would seem that the numbers after the ST do indicade an approx BHP with the 200 and the 220, (202, 223 respectivly) however this hasn't always been the case or there would be some rather peeved ST24 (164BHP) Owners out there.

TBH, I still prefer the 200. In my opinion it looks far nicer then the 220.

Believe it or not but I know the stock bodykit of a ST200 rather intimately.

 

st24 is cos its the first v6 24v engine in the mondeo series?...

 

I have a question: in Episode 5, when Jeremy is doing the C6, a song begins playing. The time in the episode is 37:10 when the song begins. I remember it in the credits to the first Mortal Kombat movie and was blown away - I love vocal trance because of that song. If anyone can name it, I'll pm you a cookie!

Shame it's last in series, thought they would do there "end of series" awards dealie. I guess they do that at Christmas time.
