So I don't know how the UK works, but in America, many shows are releasing DVD collectors series. I was wondering if anything has been announced over there about DVD sets. Normally I don't buy into them, but if Top Gear released one, I'd pick it up in 2 seconds.
I don't think they'll release a DVD collection of each episode of a series, as it's supposed to be more of a "current affairs" type of a program. There are a couple of compilations of the best bits of previous series (see Amazon.co.uk for more) and they have released a DVD of the Winter Olympics Special that they broadcast at the beginning of this year (I think) - pure class, the Jet Propelled ski jump was a classic
To satiate your appetite for things that go vroom and more besides, click here. Download every episode that's going, as apparently the beeb are cracking down on recorded shows being distributed.
Really the best bits is all you would really want. I like it but wouldnt be bothered to sit and watch it all again on DVD`s where as the best bits like the races i would.
The problem is, I missed a lot of Season 1-3 when I watched them and it was REALLY poor quality. Properly remastered DVD copies would be great for that. Each DVD set would probably be around 3-4 DVDs (assuming 10-12 episodes per season). However, if the BBC released a "Best Of..." DVD set, I'd grab that too. Actually, that would be a reasonable product. I wonder if they've done any market research on it. And by market research, I mean asking me, because my answer is the only one that matters. All kidding aside, thanks for the link kenco.
Well, if you can get yourself a multi-region player (or find a hack for your current player), the "Best of" DVDs are already available on Region 2 (see Amazon link in my post above). As I said, a complete boxed set of the entire series probably won't happen because most of it will be out of date by the time it reaches DVD. I don't know if the Beeb are planning to release editions for other regions; your best bet is to ask BBC America.
