yeh your right there. even the end where the price decided the winner was annoying, felt very very like the episode they had to go to was it edinburgh cheaper than the train and jeremy's volvo cost one pound and he won, even though the other two had ruled him out as he was too low in the points. it was funny the first time if they werent going to show the last test just leave it out and dont mention it but i did like the rest, i rarely pay much attention to the celeb in a crap car bit tbh so i dont think i watched that section, i usually find something else to do for the ten mins if its not someone im interested in
Well, I thought that was quite a poor episode last night. The '3 cars for £x' challenges used to be quite fun, but now they're getting repetitive and boring. Buy 3 cars, meet somewhere, laugh at each others choices, complete a series of challenges, one of which will involve some kind of track test, and whoever bought their car for the least amount of money will win said 'challenge'. Honestly, that was the main feature of the episode and there was no point in watching it whatsoever given how it was ended. It wasn't even funny. The SIARC section was an absolute farce. It was clear neither party wanted to be there doing that interview and were forced to do so by the show's producers, people at the BBC, or whatever. I mean, in what way is Alistair Campbell qualified to be a 'star'? He isn't. The sooner they drop that section, the better. The vast majority of people are just there promote their latest book/movie/album/other piece of crap I'm not interested in, and a lot of them have already been on before. All it means is that I have to put up with some smug b*****d like Simon Cowell or Jay Kay for 5 minutes every episode. Give me 5 more minutes of decent programming will you FFS!
Replace "star" in the reasonably priced car with a destruction derby in Gwizs, much more entertainment.
Painful to watch The interview was awful, the 5grand challenge has been seen for dozens of times already and.. well, actually May in Porsches wasn't too bad. I was surprised to see him do that.
I agree, it was good to see James May in the Porsche and good to see him powersliding as well as the other two Maybe there just isn't enough left for them to do - the challenges have all been done and the format has become stale - and it feels as though they've taken the criticisms of the last series too far and have dulled it down too much. Wouldn't be surprised if this was the last series ever, tbh...
I, on the other hand, enjoy them without fail every time. The end of this one was utterly crap (so bad I had to re-watch the scoreboard moment in case I missed something when they -141'd James), but the rest was good imo. The SIARPC segment was the worst yet, imo, whoever in the BBC research team thought that would be funny had a failsauce. James and Porsches was excellent, and combined with the cheap car challenge I thought it was a decent ep, as long as you turn off the last 10 minutes.
ive been saying for a while it could do with a break for 2 or 3 years and come back fresh. i love watching it but i think a break could be a good thing
Most of it is the same as last season, pretty piss poor. Have to admit I do like James May's bits though, more like the old Top Gear.
The show realy hit off when James May joined originally, I think they need someone to replace Hammond now, he's just irritating. Maybe that can make it more fresher.
He should stick to that cheesy gameshow, and supermarket ads imo. But who would replace him? Id like to see somebody that is relatively unknown personally.
I'll do it! We have Clarkson to specialise in being a git, May to specialise in being slow and getting lost. I can do breaking things! Seriously, I'd even do it for free...just the chance to drive half the kit that comes though would make it worthwhile...
Yup, TBH I had a suspicion something wasn't quite right about the episode from the beginning. There was none of the typical top-drawer editing and stylising that makes Top Gear stand out. By the looks of it the entire episode was a production disaster for various reasons and they just ended up cutting together what they had and hoping for the best. I usually wouldn't mind the odd 'dud' episode, but this season is only 7 shows in total IIRC.
But he's the closest thing the show has to 'eye candy', so if they did that all 7 women who watch the show would stop watching it and complain to the BBC...and you know that in the mind of the BBC 7 complaints = public outrage.
I 'WTF'ed' when they said they had left out the economy run, not watched the star in the car ever, always skip that bit.
Swap him with Sabine Schmitz. Then the Eye Candy is definitely sorted. Like after that Van around the Nurburgring episode.
Nah, then people would just complain that the Germans are invading a national institution. Besides, I thought she was one of the presenters on the German version of Top Gear (if there is such a thing)?
Its going up sometime this week. A full 10mins!! they could have got that into the show FFS. I hope this isnt a sign of the future, bits cut out to make way for some shite (if they hadnt spent 10mins with the bmw isetta it would have been fine, and if you're going to dick around in 3 wheeled vehicles at least get a Grinnal or a Trex!)
Well I enjoyed it, well apart from Alistair Campbell. For everyone who hasn't already there are a few outtakes and miscellaneous bits of footage - including a rather long film of James driving to work - which I found quite interesting.
