The Zonda is cool but hammond has an obsession with it which has gone too far now.
right... has hammond had his teeth whitened yay or nay?
Some interesting facts about the Bugatti:
1 - If a Maclaren F1 (Thats the road car) went past the Veyron at 100mph and as it reached it it accelerated as fast as it could, the Veyron would still beat it to 200 mph. With a 100mph head start.
2 - At full speed, the 22 gallon fuel tank would run dry in 12 minutes, or 51 miles. Thats just over 2 mpg.
3 - The Veyron is electronically limited to 253 mph.
4 - Tyres are £1400 each
5 - Apparently the quoted figure of 1001 PS, or 987 imperial bhp, is a conservative estimate. Its actually more like 1050 bhp
6 - The Veyron has a second key, without this key, the car is limited to 220 mph. Insert the second key and the car goes through all full check of all the components of the car, and then lowers itself down to the ground before letting you drive at full speed.
7 - The car itself weighs 1888kg, however this still requires 100 litres of fuel, 40 litres of coolant water, 15 litres of water for the chargecooler, 20 litres of engine oil, another 22 litres of oil for the gearbox, and 15 litres of hydraulic fluid. Which puts the total weight up to around 2100 kg. A Mac F1 weighs 1142 kg.
2-acording to this months TG its got a 200 litre tank
4-bloody hell. 1400 quid for a single tyre.
6- if you put the car into this mode you can do the top speed but if you touch the brakes or turn the wheel more than 90degrees it resets to the normal top speed.
another fact lifted straight from this months TG
flat out it burns one litre of fuel per km
So the Veyron can accelerate 0-200 faster than the F1 can do 100-200.
That just seems so wrong, if true it's bloody amazing.
all will be revealed on sunday... WOO WOO
the boys are coming round for beer and (top) gear
Looking to be an good episode, although I'm getting a little tired of the Porsches. I'm also wondering what time NM is going to get on the F1 board. But, of course, the race is shaping up to be excellent
Around 2 MPG flat out isn't actually that bad for a car with over 1000 BHP when you think about it. You're getting around about the same power efficiency as in a normal small-engined supermini.
15 MINUTES EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11111111ONEONEONEONEONEONEONEELEVEN
/off to prepare some beers and some nacho dips the best 60mins on Sunday
media centre set to record... so i can watch it aaaalll over again
yeah i must say i always record it with mce too, just so i can watch it twice if its a good one (skipping the celeb lap and other crap)
edit: had a dump, ciggie, got a cold beer out, bag of kettle crisps and turned my mobile off. im ready
Everything about that car is just unreal...
That episode was amazing, that car is beyond words. And Nigel Mansell doing that lap, the whole license fee is worth it for this programme. I'm not a petrol head but they do make it so entertaining.
W00t! That was the best episode EVER! The Veyron was just supreme in every way (well, except maybe running costs...)
Great episode... did anyone else notice that the BBC announcer listed the wrong guest for the programme?
I thought it was boring, really, focussed too much on the Veyron. Too many shots of the car just speeding past. also I don't find the races as good anymore as you know they are scripted.
yeah lol! I was wondering when Alan Titchmarsh was coming in but when Clarkson was introducing Mansell I was like wth??
Cool episode though hehe
