oh yes those have much pontentail, you would have to wire it up to a molex and also do some soldering to get it to connect to you vid card, i wouldent recomend this for a noob but give it a shot you never know what will happen! their are tons of sites out thier that offer freeware programs for setting up a lcd screen just do a search on google

This is a parallel interface graphical monochrome LCD screen, not a small TV monitor deal. It uses a Toshiba T6963C controller which is thank fully included on the screen. This save you a bunch of work. I would reccomend using www.lcdstudio.com to run this screen. They also have pics of similar displays running on their forums. Keep in mind you will need to do some light soldering work to connect this display to a DB25 connector (printer cable, parallel port). The cool thing with the T6963C controller is that it runs off of 5v which you can easily pull from your PC's PSU. I would look through the datasheet and see what voltage the cathode backlight needs. You will need to basically solder on a connector to attach to your pc, maybe a resistor or two in the cable, and a pot for controlling the contrast. Many people hook these types of displays up, so its just a matter of finding someone who could help ya out. As I said earlier, check with the guys at lcdstudio, they have a few wiring diagrams on the forums and could prolly talk you through a few thanks.

Hope this helps man, and welcome to the wonderful (but sometimes expensive) world of LCDs!

 Thanks guys - thats just the news I was hoping for.
I am quite handy with a soldering iron so that wouldn't bother me much.
The biggest worry was buying a controller and not finding any software but I now have no need to worry.
    :dremel: here we come :D

Looking at the data sheet the backlight requires 5V although I am not 100% sure exactly what to look for.
And the dimensions of it ! Would nicely fill my 2 spare 5 1/4 bays :thumb:
