Here's the sketchup model Here it is, for real Here's the base Throwing arm Arms The axis for the arm, weights, and the bolts to attach the base to the arms Here's the other teams treb, despite being much larger, we both shot a 1 lb pop can full of lead around 150 feet
plans took around 10 hours after consulting my group. The build took around 20-25 hours, split between 6 days
No I just did some quick models in sketchup. I could have done a model in Solidworks and done a Finite element analysis to make a better design but I just didn't have the time to do so. But my physics teacher said pound for pound ours kicked the other teams trebs ass. I told him it was because it was a better design than the others + it fit in the back of my car, theirs had to be hauled in on a trailer
we once made a big one with beams and rope and a huge 100-200kg counterweight, a throwing arm of nearly 6m it could throw a box of milk (1kg) over 100m far (it goes POOF). a piece of wood weighing a few kilo's (5-6kg) was trown almost 70m far after a few tryouts. that was WICKED. i'll look if i have any video's left of it. sorry to hack your thread The_Beast edit: video:
It's fine because it's so darn cool, thanks for sharing Twellmann, looks like so pretty hardcore sims there, far more than we needed
