I know with AIM you can direct-connect and look for a connection on port 443 or 4443 via netstat-n is there a way to do something similar with MSN and yahoo? Just curious. I got one of those lovely nigerian scams and want to track him down. I have two yahoo.co.uk email addresses so far...
The only way, to my knowledge, is to send the user a file, once/if they accept, then use netstat -n and you'll see a "temp" connection listed....
Do yahoo allow you to see the full mail headers? If so, you should be able to get his IP from there in the 'received-from' field.
You can do 'netstat -a' whilst in a conversation EDIT: I think yopu may need to be sending them a request of some sort like a file or to play a game view there webcam etc etc
I thought MSN decided to ban or block this type of activity for example they blocked some ports or something to fix the hack / program called "msn block detect.exe" everyone was using to check if they were blocked by a user and who had deleted them, and who added them etc as it was against the rules or bad for someones privacy or whatever. That's just what I think...dunno google the programs out...
