News Treyarch announces Call of Duty: Black Ops

It's at least a slight chance that this will be a pretty PC-centric game, or at least a game for 'real gamers'. I, for one, am pretty impartial to Treyarch and generally feel that the only party who could mess it up is Activision. Knowing that MW3 is already in development we can pretty safely say it won't be a modern-day shooter, this suspicion being backed by Treyarch's history of creating WWII CoD games (when they aren't busy making sports and movie games). If it really does come down to being a Cold War game I will certainly buy it, just to see how they handle it. World in Conflict was a lot of fun and had a really engaging story (imo) and a first person shooter following a similar spirit would just tickle me pink.

 

Could it be that someone FINALLY makes a good Vietnam FPS? Then we can have 3 years of nothing but that before the next idea becomes popular. Just like we had with WW2 and then Current day terrorist related games.

 

Could be a good Vietnam game, the last one was Vietcong. Even the sequel was a pile of ass.

 

Vietnam for some reason is a controversial topic...Hence the lack of good high profile games.

Plus the US lost the war and we're terribly anal about people pointing out our losses.

 

Therein lies the reason we see more games depicting the US bursting into WWII like the Kool Aid guy and saving the day than Vietman or other less glamorous conflicts.

 

They could make a really good gritty vietname game, depicting loss and sorrow XD. Like with crazy heart breaking orchestra music each time one of your buddies gets thrashed by crazy jungle vietcong guys.

Then at end you make a final stand and get owned.

Pretty much modern warfare 1 with palm trees basically.

 

Might be worth a look if it has dedicated servers.

 

CoD can just go away, their last console port sucked balls.

 

I just want Call of Duty to go back to the days of the first and second one, that is where it was at, but a Vietnam version seems promising, to be honest I want a Korean War version based around the TV show M*A*S*H ^_^

Console port. They make it on the consoles then just copy it to PC.

 

Yawn.... Too busy playing Bad Company 2 to even care about Call of Duty 7 : Black ops A.K.A. more MW2 crap fest. They need to go in an entirely new direction instead of pumping out crap to make a buck. This won't help crAptivision in the long run.

If it's like World and War, I'd get it, if it's like MW2, then I'm sticking to BC2 till I get sick of the usual campers and snipers that haunt these games

COD is becoming worse then demotivational reposts. Will it be better than BF Vietnam (2004) and NAM (1998)? I hope so...but then again it's TreyArch making this one

 

Treyarch has always made a good job of making the previous IW-title worse. Then again, with the baseline being MW2, they need to really up their game to perform a limbo with this one. If it indeed WILL have dedicated servers I might still give it a go...

Imo they will ever top cod4 but by no means does it mean the current ones are crap..

 

I've only played since COD 4, because I dont really like ww2 games..I was playing ghost recon..until MW...then I got W@W and it was ok...I like MW2. I will get the next one, but Treyarch needs to step up...Infinity is a much better producer, IMO.
