Hey Tribal, the reservoirs are looking nice. I had an idea like that myself, but I don't understand how you fitted the O-ring at the top. Did you made a groove in the top piece where you put the O-ring in?
And in the pics beneath, you screwed some bolts in the top piece. Did you made a thread in the top piece or the pipe?

Shut up man. You love me!:eyebrow:

@badje - yes there is a special groove I cut for the oring. It not a typical groove. Its more like a notch cut at the very end. This way the oring will roll off it when you try and remove the end piece. Also,... I didnt thread anything. I drilled holes through the end piece and the res body. I installed brass insert threading into the holes of the end piece. Works great and looks pro!!

    Tribal,
Have you had any issues wrt the manufacturing tolerances of the acrylic tubes i.e. out-of-round, etc.?

@Spotswood - *hijacking* I know I have. Some of the extruded tubing I have varies in size by a 16th of an inch.

Definitely. Thats a given. Extruded tubing is always off. I dont think the size is any smaller than what the manufactures tolerance is. Most of the time,... .005. It's just that the tubes are out of shape. Not really round. What im doing to correct this so that the orings have even contact all the way around,... im cutting the end pieces around .001" smaller than the ID of the tube. The end pieces correct the shape of the tube when installed. Even contact all the way around. I'll get some better pics later of everything. I am making some more reservoirs now.

I'm going to try and make 18 more of these with the jigs I made. I have to remake a few of the jigs though. As mentioned in my last post they didnt work all that well. Lets see how well they work this time around. Also,... I ordered two foot switches for my drill press. I am going to rewire them so I have a momentary forward and reverse for tapping:) Tapping will takes seconds instead of minutes. *cough*going to sell the res's*cough cough*. I need the money for a table saw:)

Try www.usplastics.com, tappplastics.com, e-tplastics.com, mcmaster.com has some but they are expensive. I use Weld-On#4 to glue. You will need an applicator bottle too. the glue is water thin. The app bottle has a needle for applying it.

Quick update. I'm attempting to make 18 of these basic LEVO reservoirs. I need a name for them. Something cool. Help me out,...

    Jul-29-2008(bAR2745r)

Making new jigs. I'm using a special print out I made on my machine to mark where the holes will be. I am hoping this will be more accurate then drawing it all out with a ruler.

Center punced and ready for drilling.

Done. Made five mroe of these disc's here. These are used to hold the end pieces for turn cutting.

I have 12 end piece discs now. I can make 6 reservoir at a time. The discs with the 45 degree holes are for another jig used to drill the mounting holes.

36 end pieces. 18 reservoirs. TribalOVERKILL needs a table saw. Seriously.

Dinner at the studio. Store bought:) This was good!!!!

    Stupid binding string,...

This is a replacement jig. I hope it works better than the last one. I think the last one was off a bit. I think. I'm replacing it mainly because once the holes in the jig are messed up the jig is no longer good. The new one,... the holes can be replaced. Plus theres a better alignment holes. A pilot hole.

I love turning cutting. LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT. TribalOVERKILL needs a Lathe. Seriously.

Once again,... this is how you know your were turn cutting properly. Efficiently.

    Replaceable discs with spacers.

Alignment pilot hole and two peg holes. The spacer prevents you from drilling into the jig.

    Works like this.

Finally, the outer rings. they are used to hole the piece still during drilling. The spacer turns. You do not want the piece to turn while drilling.

    That is soo cool looking.

Had to use two rings because I did not have 1/4" aluminum.

    Works perfectly.

Got all this done real quick. Wasn't a problem at all.

Trimmed the corners and mounted them to the chuck nut jig thingies.

    Made some acrylic spacers.

Turned down to the outer diameter.
    [IMG] [IMG]

Turned down to the inner diameter.
    [IMG] [IMG]

What a mess. Next I haev to do the oring grooves. Pics of that later.

    Till next time.
