Thanks Guys :thumb:, its nice to have feedback and see encouragement to see the completed products, i hope not to disappoint.

As I said in a earlier post the HDD cooler was originally designed to cool a WD Velociraptor and to enable it to be fitted in a 3.5" Bay and we all know how hot raptors can get
    I have just diversified as I wish to now use an SSD in my mod, and as Validus pointed out the cooler kills 2 birds with one stone;

    1) Easily mounting a 2.5” HDD/SSD into a standard 3.5” bay
    2) Removing any heat generated by your HDD/SSD (even if that 2nd isn't needed as much with an SSD, its still good to have).

And as bonus this should look great with its all copper design, and fit in right at home with the custom cooler CPU Block and now more likely custom copper GPU blocks :jawdrop:

    Evening Folks,
I thought i would show you how far i have got this evening with the 3D Cad model of the Case
    [IMG]

    As you Can See it is incomplete, and is missing some key features for example;
    • Side Panel Window
    • LCD display (Note Dark transparent Acrylic that will hide LCD is shown, at top of Case)
    • reservoir fluid level window
    • Switches etc
However i need a break from the PC  and i think i have made some good progress with the work done tonight.
I will upload the finished model once complete, but i hope you like what you see so far.

Well i have been playing a bit this evening with the Case design and have settled for a white Outer Case with Black inners, see below
    [IMG]

:: You can see the dark transparent Acrylic at top of Case that will hide the LCD
:: I have mocked up the side panel too, Its currently a clear window but is looking into a dark black abyss of an empty PC Case :)

Really just wanted to show the colour scheme to you folks and see what you think?

Hay guys just an update, as life has been busy!
Case mod is still on the way, i will upload photos when i get chance.
The Copper Blocks have been the sticking point, the toolmaker i originally was using hasn’t got the capability to machine the parts, but has tried and broke several cutters in the process.
This has left me trying to source a place capable of producing my components at a reasonable price!
Fingers crossed I will have more to show you towards the end of the month.

    An Update - 15/11/09
Ok guys as promised an Update on the case Mod.
I have been working with the toolmaker to get the best design for my water blocks which has been taking up most of my spare time, but i am slowly progressing with the case its self.

As you can see from the below pictures i have used a bumper fill epoxy to fill and smooth out the joins and slight mismatch between the custom built aluminium edging (that increases the height of the case) and the case it's self, boy is this stuff dusty!
I can only apologise for the poor photo shots as i have no longer got a working digital camera and have had to revert to taking shots on my phone, as such doesn't give the work justice, but it shows that i am progressing with the mod slowly.
I will try and get a new camera from Santa for xmas and with a bit more free time i hope to get this mod finished before the first I-series lan next year, to showcase it there.

I am also looking at if i should get my side panel window lasered or CNC Machined, and will let you know which one i choose once i have made my decision,
Thanks again for sticking with my on this mod and hope not to disappoint!

I like the designs and can't wait to see where this goes. I just can't get past how similar the hdd block is to the sink on the VelociRaptor, and wish it broke away from that design into something a bit more unique. Either way it still looks great though.

    Update - 22/11/09

Hi folks, today i am pleased to show you some more progress on the case.
I have this weekend machined out the side window in the case using a horizontal mill to ensure the edges are true and square; I have sanded them back and have ordered the dark Perspex as per the sample below.

    [IMG] [IMG]

    Things left to do
    • Finish Design of front of case
    • Spray Case
    • Fit LCD Display to front of case
    • Install Watercooling and PC components
    • Thats it!

    Update 03/12/09

So I have finally got round to finishing the front design of the case, as I was unable to find a sponsor for an SSD drive I have removed that feature from the case.
I have instead opted to place a 240mm Radiator behind the front and have red case fans behind the black grill you can see below. (meaning the case mod will now feature a single loop featuring 2 240mm rads )
I have also decided to use two red temperature displays in my design instead of an LCD as its proven hard to source, and I already had two of the red temperature displays left over from a old case mod.
    [IMG][IMG]
    [IMG][IMG]

I have ordered the laser cuts for the front, the LCD placement and brackets which will come as flat plate then be bent to the required angles by myself. The laser cut items can be seen below and I hope sometime next week I should be able to take shots of the real items before and after bending.

    [IMG][IMG]

The Bracket is used to fit ANY 240mm radiator into a standard 5.25” Drive bay set up and took a few hours to crack in Solidworks late last night. However i should have loads left over after the mod to share with you folks!

The LCD placement is made up of two bent lasercuts one to hold the displays and one to hold the Perspex they fit directly on top of each other to product the part abovewhich inturn will fit into the gap in the top of the case.

Well that’s it till i receive the lasercuts from my supplier (hopefully next week), then i shall update again!

top banana Hg, tbh i think the trident symbol would look better being straight up through the middle.

Sorry folks it’s too late to change the design and i should be getting the laser cuts back today at some point.
I did originally have a design with the trident up the middle and it just didn't look right, I’ll see if I can dig it out for you
