So my computer has a couple of trojans. I'm struggling to get rid of it, Sophos seems to periodically quarantine infected files, but doesn't seem to fix the problem.

The easiest thing to do would be to reinstall windows. But my computer didn't come with a cd when I got it, and I'll be damned if I can find a link to download an iso from the windows website. Every single link on the windows website just says "upgrade to vista lol." And apparently sending them an email costs £46. Is there any way to get hold of a new CD without having to buy it again?

So far all I've tried to get rid of the trojan is to restart in safe mode and try to run a full scan with sophos. But it took 10 hours to do 20% of the scan and found nothing.

    Anyone got any ideas?

    Much appreciated.

Have you turned off system restore and then run the AV in safe mode. Where are the trojans located?

+ Use Spybot, malware bytes and adaware.

Yeah good thinking... I just restricted the search to .../system32/
I think I might have got it, or at least some of it.
Thanks for the help. Any other places I should try searching?
