OK, there is a freelance Star Wars movie called Revelations, which is free for download. :) I'm sure most geeks here arleady knew that, but for the ones who didn't, no I'm not trying to illegaly down this movie. :worried:

Anyways, when I try to download the file, from the main server on the revelations web-page, first the download starts with an impressive burst transfer of 1111Kb/s (I'm serious, it was that fast for about the blink of an eye), then gradually slowed down to about 100Kb/s, then around 70Kb/s I could watch the speed tick down like a clock (70.0, 69.9, 69.8. . .). I thought this slowing down had stopped at around 30Kb/s second, not quite as good as 1111Kb/s :waah: but until I get a T-3 connection or something that will have to do (plus some other apps were also downloading for a combined total download speed of close to 120Kb/s).

Anyways, the download had another 3hours to go. . . I thought to myself I'll just leave this one alone until morning. While, on my trip to pick up some food, when I got back Firefox told me the download was complete. As far as I can tell according to the Firefox download manager it was complete- but Windows disagrees. Looking at the properties of the file, it is only about 47MB when it should have be ~250MB.

Now this would have surprise me if were not for the fact that this is my second attempt to download Revelations. The first try only made it to 5MB, so were making a little progress(?). . .

Any ideas? I really dislike Firefox lieing to me like this. . . I have a screenshot of the Firefox download manager claiming I just downloaded a ~250MB file in 20min (I wish I could do that!) and also the truth about the file according to Windows (view of the properties).

    TIA, L J

Google says that it was /.ed an hour ago.. which might explain a few things. The /. article has a link with a list of download mirrors:

I think I downloaded this sometime ago at work, is it has a fit redhead (maybe a different colour) girl that turns to the darkside? If so I'll check that I still have it and upload for you.

I had a preview trailer of it (crap quality) from about a year or so back iirc (prolly lost in the great hard drive crash of 2004 :p), but my word, that torrent really has some speed to it. Downloading at 400kbps and still climbing!

/me loves broadband, yet still hates commiecast (or concast, whatever you prefer to call them) :grr:

Edit: Holy crap! 512kbps... That is completely maxing out my connection

While, being on a dorm room internet connection I am behind a firewall, and this firewall doesn't like bit-torrent. . . You know, the part in the manual that says if your behind a firewall your screwed- my upload is still at 0Kb/s. But the download is still going at 50Kb/s!

So em, anyone seen the movie and want to comment about it??

Tis cool, but all the music is off-key :(

I imagine this is to avoid John William's copyright, but still, it was annoying.

Very atypical of a fan film though, everything was done pretty darn well (with the exception of the acting and the vocal mic work, both could have used some help).

Worth the download, if you can find it :thumb:
