What's that saying? Once is happenstance, twice is coincidence, three times is enemy action?

True in an ironic way, Iran's mass retaliation with drones will have made it extremely difficult to differentiate targets. It wouldn't surprise me if the Kuwaitis fired at something else and the missiles went 'that's a big looking target' when their seeker heads saw the F-15s. Or the F-15s were flying with their transponders turned off, Americans like doing that for some reason.

I believe Kuwait now holds the record for F-15 shoot downs.

There's some speculation that it's either a) the Iranian drone retaliation hit some infrastructure in Kuwait which affected their command and control or b) the US shut them out of the mission data-sharing.

Either way it was a friendly fire incident, thankfully all 6 crew safe and well.

The patriot missiles aren't just dumb IR seekers that change target (you would also need the two targets to cross over with the same singature for that to work). They're combination active radar and IR seeker plus guidance from the launching system. The F15s were hit because they were the targets.

Ordinary transponders off is perfectly normal in active airspace, the datalinks used for mission planning and notification not providing them the info about the friendlies is the bit that's missing.

RAF are flying to intercept drones and missiles fired at the base in Cyprus and other local targets, not an offensive campaign.

Shame they haven't managed to deploy the laser anti-drone systems yet, they'll save a fortune

I wish someone would overthrow the American dictator. He's getting really ****ing out of hand now. He's got 2 years left in office, IF he doesn't get embroiled in the human meat market scandal, and if he makes it that far probably not that long till he's dead, so he's just running round the fireworks factory throwing flares all over the shop.

The Orange Dictator will find it harder to maintain the pace of his lunacy, if the Democrats gain full control of Congress, in the midterms later this year. He is much less popular than he was, even losing popularity with the MAGA.

I think, or at least hope, that would be a step too far, even for many Republicans.

Once the orange dictator is gone, I think congress needs to think long and hard about curbing presidential power, to prevent dictatorship happening again.

Make no mistake, Donald Trump is not smart enough to have orchestrated the systematic erosion of checks & balances that has been happening for decades. He’s not the one that created the circumstances under which a racist reality TV star with a string of debts & failed businesses could wield so much executive power.

He’s just happened to be the right nappy-wearing delusional old fart in the right place at the right time.

Do you honestly think it matters who’s in control of either house? Do you honestly think he cares about the 22nd amendment?

The irony is that “preventing tyrannical governments” was among the reasons - if not the main reason - behind the declaration of independence and the constitution. It’s why the 4th 2nd amendment grants the right for a “well regulated citizen’s militia” to carry and bear firearms.

    EDIT: Fanks, G :thumb:

Meh... right to not be searched unreasonably, right to openly carry a weapon designed to kill as efficiently as possible... close enough...

    Cheers, Mr H
