Hi one and all, I am trying to network a xp lap top to a me desktop that is running the internet. The nic in the desk top will not issue an ip to the lap top however if i auto assign the ip it gets connection but with no packets recieved. I have made sure both nics are running the same protocols. I tried running the network wizard but xp will not allow the me wizard to run. The wizard on the lap top will not recognize the burner. Any pointers would be great full.
    thanks

Have you enabled Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) and take out any ip's you have given to your nics.

Stick all nics on laptop and desktop to obtain automaticly. If that doesnt work. Keep all those settings and bridge both your nics in the desktop.

    :)

was just going to say that. x-over. and make sure the guest account in xp is turned on. if you do get ICS to work, more power to ya. i work as a netowrking expert and even i cant keep the ICS working for more than a few days. just get a router.. i use Dlink.
