    Hello.
My rig details are in my sig below.
I am not a data hogger and all my photos, docs etc are on my mobile, laptop, facebook, DVD's etc and I am not super precious about them. I am slightly OCD about keeping things streamlined in terms of data, so my plan is to go 'all SSD'.
I currently have the excellent Samsung 830 128GB but I am getting down to the last 30GB or so and would like to add another 256 SSD.

I was considering just going for the 256GB version of the same drive but are there other drives that clock in a little cheaper that are worthy of my attention?

    Many thanks.

    Mike

I would just be looking at the best cost/GB ratio possible really. There are a lot of good drives out there. With things as they are you might even be able to catch a good deal on a 512GB from previous generation. Would still be great for secondary drive.

The sandisk 256gb drive is £120, some £30 less than the samsung (before the cashback offer). same performance specs.

Are you going to backup and reinstall windows on the current system disk? If so your Z77 board supports TRIM on RAID 0 arrays with the latest Intel Rapid Storage driver (correcting what I think was the main flaw of raid 0 ssd arrays), if you buy another 128gb Samsung 830 you could build a 256gb raid array out of the 2 drives, and it would be RAPID, behold:

    Thanks for the responses.
I won't be re-installing Windows as this is the 1st 'settled' build I am happy with for some considerable time due to various issues.

I just want a fast 'dump' drive.

    Cheers.

While being a SSD, it will essentially be a storage drive you want, so I'd go for price over sheer performance.
