i'm trying to install a copy of XP tablet edition on a hard drive i wrote zeros to (there were a boatload of issues with the drive and i thought nuking it from a kubuntu live CD would be the best option.) i gave it a command i read about online for a low-level format (which from what i understand is just zeroing the entire drive) what i typed in BASH: Code: dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/hda i tried to install XP Tablet Edition but it said it could not find a disk and that it would now reboot. i thought maybe it wasnt seeing the HDD is because there was nothing on it. i threw the Kubuntu disk back in and installed dapper drake (with no problems at all i might add). after i finished installing kubuntu i put the XP disc back in and it still says there are no disks detected. i thought linux was the difficult one, how come i can install linux no problem but when i try for XPTE it gives me nothing but errors. i already checked the HDD cable, its seated firmly, what do i need to do to let XPTE install?
mabye use FDisk or some similar windows tool to do it off a boot floppy before u run the XP tablet edition CD?
Because Linux runs on about everything? Is the drive recognised from the BIOS? You could also try a boot disk, and restore the MBR (not sure how that works on Windows).
