You can! Most of the on-line "Overclock" type of stores list a badge illuminating kit and this is just the same with a larger piece of EL tape. Personally I'd consider using a piece of opaque acrylic or plastic to defuse either a few white LEDs or mini light bulbs. That way there's no annoying buz from a cheap inverter!! To make the see-through design use ink-jet Transparency sheets (see Great Old One's article about his Lan-Li mod - definitive!) or follow Macroman's article "Macro Black" for another approach.
