I have moved my room around today and now I have my TV next to my desk, so I thought I would set it up as a secondary monitor.

The TV/monitor I am using as my secondary is a samsung SyncMaster 2032mw, it works fine through a VGA cable (couldn't find another DVI) and everything is set up and working as required when the TV is on and on the "PC" channel.

But even when the TV is off, or the TV is being used for TV or xbox the PC seems to think it is still there, so I keep loosing my mouse off the right side of my screen.

Is there a setting that can fix this, or is it just going to happen and I have to live with it or loose it in my setup?

    Cheers in advance.

Nevermind, am going to use ultramon to disable the secondary monitor quickly.

Not ideal, would love it to do it automatically when the TV changes channel or turns off, but its better than it was.

I'm not so sure it can be done automatically. I've got a dual screen set up too, and often I'll have to start the second screen up if a program starts up over there.

On another note, I'm not so sure TV's with PC input can actually display the full PC resolutions.

There is no way to do it automatically.

The VGA Cable doesn't send any signals back to the computer so the computer does not know when it has been turned off.

Flatscreen TV's will run at their native resolution, 1366x768 is pretty normal for non 1080P TV's.

If you turn your monitor off while your PC is on, you can still move the mouse around, click on things and type stuff with your keyboard... this is exactly the same. PC's can't tell if monitors are on or not.
