Im not quite sure if this belongs in the hardware section or not, if so mode please move it. Okay so heres my problem, im trying to watch divx movies on my tv using the tv out on my ati radeo 8500 yes old but works great. So i try and watch the movies in full screen and i see it on my crt but not on my tv, whats up with that? Even when its displayed in a small window, i see the desktop and winamp but no video just a black window. Can anyone help me?

Try enabling "theatre mode" in advanced display properties if it has it. Or instead of cloning the desktop - extend it across onto the TV and "assign" the video player to screen 2 using the ati hypersomething software. If that dont work either, set your TV as screen 1 and CRT as 2.

Had a similar problem with an all-in-wonder years ago. Bindibadgi's solution should work. I solved my problem by setting the TV as the primary monitor and the computer (VGA) as number 2. Some laptops I have owned did this too. The solution there was to turn of dual display and only have optput to the TV.

with ATI's overlay stuff, you have to set the TV as the primary monitor.

works on cards as old as a 32mb rage fury. mom's puter has one of those with just the s-video hooked to a 32" toshiba tv as a monitor, running 800X600 ... works just fine for movies, divx, web if IE is f11'ed and just about everything else.

The extention of the desktop worked wonderfully so now i have 3 monitors, in essence, 3 right in a row, works awesome! thanks Bindibadgi.

No problem, although you shouldnt have cause the rage theatre chipsets on ATis only support a maximum of 2 outputs at any one time :eyebrow: :worried:

Thats weird, its working fine, its a 3 output card so i dont see why there would be problem. I read through the book and it never said anything against 3 monitors at a time.

So you're telling me you're currently running 2 monitors AND tv out at the same time?

Its physically impossible since the card only has 2 RAMDACs. The Matrox Parhelia has 3 and supports 3 outputs, and is one of the only cards todo so.

Sorry, the way I said it sounded way wrong, I switch off from one to the other, usually running my second monitor, sorry for the confusion, i just have them all hooked up and then i just turn one or the other off in the prefs.
