my tv has a Very annoying problem
sometimes when its on standby, i cant switch it on at all, either with the remote or the power button on the tv. the only way, i can get it off standby is to complelty remove the power lead, then re-insert it, and this will ( occasionally ) allow you to switch the tv on, if it doesnt...remove the lead and start again...
when you turn it off you have the same issue, with regards to turning it back on. it just wont turn back on

the lead is fine, and the tv works fine when its on, the batteries in the remote are fine.
ive just no idea what causes this issue
the tv is a 32 inch hitachi, not sure exactly what model tho

Sounds like the internal power circuitry. How old is the TV? If it's a warranty job then just get in touch with whoever you bought it from.
If not then there are repair centres out there if you aren't confident in pulling it apart yourself. You can usually get hold of the boards somewhere on the internet and just swap them.

I guess it's at the back of the TV, like in 99% of the cases ?

And how old is the TV ? Maybe it is just dying. For example HDMI ports of my LG LCD TV won't work with anything else but NVIDIA cards because of bad EDID information :D. If it is in warranty, then RMA it. If it doesn't have warranty, buy a new one.

well the tv is probs out of warrenty is approx 4/5 years of age
i cant find the model number as the tv is on bodged wall mount my stepdad made
you plug the power in...and the standby light comes on...but i cant bring it out of standby
either with the remote or the standby button on the tv
the only way to fix the problem is remove the plug..wait 10-15 seconds, then plug it back in
that maybe fixes it 30% of the time...if not...take it out and try again
when it does work...you put it onto standby, then it wont come back out of standby
    so out with the plug...
