    Hey,

I upgraded my father's Dell to Windows XP. It was previously a Windows ME system, and he still has the disk. Seeing as my project will house a 300 MHz Proc. and that Windows XP runs painfully slow on it, how can I get that disk to work on my computer? It keeps on telling me it is for Dells only.

WAIT! Could I hook up the HD to my Dell and install it from here, then insert the HD into the computer that ME is for?

no. the disk is not a proper ME install disk, but a ghost image of ME installed on a dell (read: proprietary) box fresh from the factory. its only good for the box it came with, or one of the same model, with no options changed. if it dont got the winders holo on it, its an image, not an OS disk.

The CD you have is only a restore CD, not a full OS. This is how they get people to buy full legal copies of software...
