Hey guys. Last week I had to reinstall Windows 7 64bit onto my laptop. Everything went fine and I got it up and running. Ever since the reinstall when typing the cursor occassionally jumps to a previous line. It does this with any typing whether in a forum or wordprocessor. It's very annoying and I have no clue why it is doing this. It also occassionally will jump to a command. Example : Ill be typing in MSN Messenger and next thing I know it's activating a call

Has anyone had this issue before and how do I fix it?. The laptop is a basic Dell Netbook a few years old.

    Thx, Lee

Are you accidentally touching the touchpad?

Sometimes they have software that intelligently knows not to let the touch pad do any thing if you appear to be using the keyboard.

    This..

My nana on my mother's side always does this but now she does the FN and whatever is the touchpad button.. it stopped doing that..

From what I heard from my nana.. she now use the mouse..

Is there a FN and a Function key that disables your mousepad on your laptop?? cuz I'm aware that not all laptops are set up the same in the Function part..

You are missing your touchpad drivers. Install them.
Once installed, access the touchpad settings (if you don't see anything in the Start menu about it, open Mouse control panel of Windows, and you should see an additional tab with options inside, or a picture of a touchpad which you click on, to open the options).

From there you can adjust the sensitivity, speed, and accidental touch check sensitivity, as well as other options such as scrolling, and zooming.

1, check the keyboard connector first to make sure that all the connectors tied.
2, is there any conflicting software in your computer? like over 2 kinds of antivirus software
3, have you ever spill some water in your keyboard?

Hey guys. I've done some testing and indeed it seems it is a touchpad sensitivity issue. 'Having to type awkwardly here to make sure I'm not near it. I will hunt down these drivers and see if I can sort it out that way.

    Thx
