    Hi
I'm looking for some new tyres, i've already decided on goodyear eagle F1 GSD3's, but i have a query about sizes.
Currently got 205/40 r17 on the rims but the f1's are 215/45 r17, is it possible to fit that width tyre, its only 10mm difference, on the rims ?

I know the height of the tyre is different, the 205/40 are 6% :eeek: smaller than than they should be, where as the 215/45 are only 1.4% smaller (orginals 195/65 r15).

    Thanks

    Graham

if the rims are designed for 205's, then moving up to 215's will make no difference at all.

Do you know how wide your 17's are?

They are 6.5jx17, so i guess thats 6.5 inches.
    seems a bit narrow seen as 205mm = 8inches

When I bought my car it had 215/40's on 6.5j at the rear so they will fit.

I now have 195's on 6.5j on the front and 205's on 6.5j on the rear.

They will fit fine :) What car are you putting them on? You won't be disappointed with the Eagle F1s.

Oh, and hello from a fellow Stockport dweller ;)

Those wheels really suit that car. Then again, 5-spokes rarely look bad :D

Damned good choice! I got a set of those on my ST. An insane amount of grip, and good characteristics when they let go too. Road noise is above average, but all in all, a fantastic tyre.

True, also i can't seem to get hold of F1s in 205/50R17 & the 205/40R17's currently on have too small a diameter for the car, at an indicated 70mph im actually doing 64mph :eeek:.
