The computer just keeps power cycling if the mini display port to display port cable is plugged in.

If I connect a hdmi only then boot then plug it in - I get an extra desktop, but nothing displays on the display port input.

Is it my monitor or my card? :(

I have no other DP cable or device to test it with at the moment.

Both mini display ports do not function.

update #1: checked it carefully and there was some fine plastic film around the mini display port connector. This has been removed and it doesn't reboot constantly on startup with only a single connector now .. but still no image displayed on the monitor.

update #2: tried the cable in a macbook air.. it picks it up very briefly (providing a resolution selection menu then I get nothing else :(

    Assuming it's the cable.

It was the cable! Ordered a startech cable off of amazon and that fixed it!

    edit: not quite.

turns out that it occasionally blinks.. this is fixed by lowering and raising the resolution of the screen.
