I received a Dell u2711 brand new boxed dirrect from Dell through a buy in bulk retailer.

I tested it via a laptop on a docking station with a display port cable and at max res the screen was blinking, alot.

I spoke to them and they said fine we will send a replacement.

I took another look at the monitor today and it appears to be a lot better via the display port, I still caught it making a tiny little blink whilst I dragged a window from the laptop to the main screen but I was considering canceling my returns process.

I wacked it on the dvi port on the dock (all brand new high end dell kit, e4310 etc) but it only pushed the u2711 to 1900x1200.

I only have to wait a few days to get the replacement but has any one had these kinds of issue with display port?

Did I jump the gun ordering a replacement?

Why can the docking station support 2500by1400 through display port but only 1900x1200 via dvi?

The screen is wounderfull, I tilled a few windows and there is a healthy amount of space on the screen I cant even imagin what it would be like to play a game at native res on that thing.

Best six hundred pounds I ever spent.

your DVI must be single link, you need dual-link laptop + dual-link cable (provided by Dell in the monitor's box) to have full resolution.

not sure about blinking, sounds like a really strange problem.

playing it at 2560x1440 is fantastic :thumb:

    Exchange it.
What I like about Dell, is that you get to keep your monitor until you receive the new one, where you put the original monitor back in it's original box or the new box.
The return shipping is paid by Dell. Check your e-mail to be sure that you have the return label, ready to be printed, put in a transparent bag and tape to the box (the bag is to protect the label). And call your carrier to come and pick it up.

    WARNING:
Be sure to put the calibration report of the original monitor in the box. Else Dell MIGHT charge you for a re-calibration. As stated on the paper, Dell doesn't have a backup copy of the report. I don't know if is really maters for exchange, but Dell asks for it when you do a return. So I assume they want it.
