    Hi All,

I hoping that someone may be able to help me with 2 problems I am having with my first full install on a Linux distro in this case Ubuntu 7.10.

    First problem:

While having XP installed my DVD-RW drive decided it had burnt it's last CD so I went out a bought a new Asus DVD-RW SATA drive (DRW-1814BLT) install this under window and worked fine, however I was having issues with other parts of XP so decided it was time for a full Linux install.

So downloaded and burnt Ubuntu 7.10 (64bit) popped the CD in the drive and got to the first screen hit enter to start the LiveCD and got long list of errors (Can't remember what they) so I thought right must be the CD so downloaded and burnt another 1 this time 32 bit version, popped it in same error. So I tried the first CD in my laptop and it booted up first time.

So I thought maybe it's the new SATA DVD-RW drive, so I disconnected it and tried again and it worked fine booted on the LiveCD and i played around on that for a while before installing it.

However now I have reconnected the DVD-RW drive and Ubuntu takes longer to boot and doesn't recognise the drive at all. Has anyone had this happen to them or does anyone know of a solution?

    Second problem:

Printing how do I get my Lexmark X1160 to work, I have tried following a guide to get an Z600 to work without any luck, any ideas please?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give, I've tried googling for both problems but could find anything to help me :-(

    Thanks

    James

Lexmark are notorious for their Linux support, so don't expect any useful results.
