Heh, at first look, I thought the picture text read "Jesus Christ, your laptop could be running Linux too." :worried: :D

It's about time for another one of my monthly reformats; maybe I'll have to give it a try. Probably not on my main rig unless it's a dualboot setup, but just pirating windows isn't cutting it for my vow to hate Microsoft.

The marketing writes itself: "What makes your Breezy Badger do whatever it is that badgers do?"

I've been saying I'd pick up a Shuttle for webserving for months now, and when I do I know some Linux distro is going on it. The only thing that's been holding Linux back so far is the difficulty for non-technical people to use it. If Ubuntu did this right, maybe we'll start to see (gasp!) user-friendly open-source systems eventually.

my friend ordered 5 of their no install live cds and 5 of their full install disks. 4-6 weeks shipping!?! thats a little long, but oh well, its worth the wait. he'd already ordered them when he asked if i wanted one, and i didnt know about isos, because i would have just downloaded it instead of wating so long. oh well.

If you've ever seen the CDs they ship, it's well worth the wait. They sent me 150 copies of their old version, all in nice cardboard sleeves with pressed (not burned) CDs. So while I do have my original burned copy, I always have tons of pro quality copies to give out and to use if I ever need to reformat for any reason.

Sadly I have not upgraded to BreezyBadger yet, but Hopefully I'll get that done sometime this weekend :D

okay i installed it and just like the first time i tried linux years ago , i still cant do anything because i dont understand anything

I try reading tutorials and all , but i never find what im looking for. All i see is tons of commands everywhere but i dont even know what they mean and most of all i have no idea where to even type them..... :(

i could never find how to browse my hard drives or how to install a program. Of course ive only been messing with it for a few hours , but i still find it extremely frustrating that all the help i see on the internet seems to be made for more advanced users than the real linux noob i am.

Alright , im going back to the frustration :)

I haven't tried the new version just yet, but for 5.04, to browse the hard drive I go to:
    Places>Home Folder -or- Place>Filesystem
Looks similar to Windows Explorer, but probably closer to MacOSX's file manager.

To install a program, I just go to synaptic, search for a program, check the boxes on all the pieces of software I want to install, then click "apply" (actually easier than installing software on Windows... but I hear the new 5.10 "breezy badger" has an even easier software installation app)

I'll try to throw together some screenshots of doing everyday stuff, because without using a single command line I was able to install firefox and thunderbird, then copy over all my thunderbird settings from my windows computer to my linux laptop. (by browsing the windows network, once again without using any commands)

Feel free to post in the linux sections for help, I'll be hanging out there for a while as I get this new version of ubuntu working on my laptop.
